Now Hiring: Assistant Civil Designer (Contract-to-Hire)

Kansas City, MO | 8-Month Contract-to-Hire

We are seeking a detail-oriented Assistant Civil Designer to support a variety of civil engineering projects. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to grow their design career while working alongside experienced engineers and project teams in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the design of civil projects including:
• Storm drainage & stormwater management systems
• Water & sanitary sewer utilities
• Site development, roadways, airports, and facilities
• Erosion & sediment control and traffic control systems
• Support drawing production, including layout, calculations, and design refinement
• Develop and revise designs based on sketches, mark-ups, and project needs
• Analyze reports, maps, drawings, and topographical/geological data
• Apply design codes, standards, and specifications
• Perform volume calculations for excavation and site grading
• Ensure design deliverables meet scope, budget, and schedule requirements
• Maintain organized project documentation and drawing revisions

✅ Qualifications

• Education & Experience (one of the following required): Bachelor’s degree in Drafting Technology or related field + 2 years of experience
• Associate degree + 3 years of experience
• OR 4+ years of progressive detailing/design experience
• Basic proficiency with design tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Excel
• Foundational knowledge of civil design principles, calculations, and systems
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
