Job Description
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
This position is responsible for enforcing the applicable building codes within the boundaries of unincorporated Elbert County; performing inspection work to ensure that residential construction is in compliance with applicable codes; inputting inspection and permit data into the database; working with other department staff to take on additional duties as they arise.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS
Graduation from high school or GED plus three to five (3-5) years of experience or equivalent in architecture, engineering, contractor or superintendent of construction or any combination.
Special Requirements
I.C.C. Certified Residential Combination Inspector (R-5) is preferred.
Elbert County will consider candidates who hold an I.C.C. Building Inspector (B-5).
Must have a valid Colorado Driver's License with a clean driving record.

Work is performed frequently in field settings, but thorough and regular reporting of time and activities is required. Considerable outdoor work is required in the inspection of various land use developments, construction sites, or public works facilities. Seasonal, inclement weather is common.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in the office and moderate to loud in the field.
