Job Overview We are looking for an illustrator/graphic designer to create engaging and educational art for children’s products, including toys, games, arts and crafts, and activity books. The role focuses on conceptualizing, designing, and delivering high-quality illustrations that meet brand standards and manufacturing requirements. Responsibilities Conceptualize and design engaging content for a wide range of children's products. Layout designs quickly and present them to the management team for approval. Create original illustrations in various styles that align with the Melissa & Doug brand. Collaborate with the Design Director and team members from concept to final production. Prepare and deliver accurate design files and specifications for manufacturing, considering cost and ergonomic factors. Create rough drafts and mock‑ups to communicate design ideas effectively. Ensure all designs adhere to brand guidelines and maintain a consistent look and feel across products. Stay current with design trends and bring innovative ideas to the team. Skills & Experience Experience in graphic design or illustration, preferably in the children's product or toy industry. Excellent layout and design skills with strong attention to detail. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign). Strong drawing and illustration skills; ability to work in various styles. Proficiency in vector‑based illustrations and understanding of printing processes. Solid knowledge of design principles, including typography, color theory, and layout. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Excellent time management and organizational skills, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to execute under tight deadlines. Strong portfolio showcasing design and illustration skills. Compensation The anticipated pay range for this position in Connecticut is $65,000 to $75,000 per annum.
