Your New Role We are seeking professional, reliable, compassionate, detail-oriented and experienced Medical Courier Drivers to join our logistics team. You will be responsible for the timely, safe, compliant, secure pickup, transport and delivery of critical medical items such as lab specimens, pharmaceuticals, medical records, supplies and equipment across healthcare facilities throughout Georgia. This essential role supports hospitals, pharmacies, laboratories, clinics, and home health agencies in delivering life-saving materials. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, on-time performance, and exceptional customer service. Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities Pick up and deliver medical items (e.g., specimens, prescriptions, equipment, medical records) safely, efficiently, and punctually according to route schedules or on-demand requests. Deliver packages with compassion and care. Handle deliveries with strict adherence to HIPAA, OSHA, and medical handling protocols. Maintain temperature control and chain of custody for all deliveries, including temperature-sensitive or biohazardous materials. Comply with all applicable laws and regulations, as well as company policies/procedures. Follow safety procedures including cargo securement, hazmat handling (if certified), and emergency protocols. Safely operate your own insured, reliable vehicle while maintaining fuel efficiency and route optimization. Use mobile dispatching applications or other communication tools for real-time tracking and updates. Communicate promptly with dispatch regarding time of arrival at pick-up and drop-off locations. Communicate any delivery delays, incidents, vehicle issues, or special instructions with dispatch, clients, and the home office. Accurately complete delivery documentation including digital signatures, POD images, pickup/drop-off logs, and compliance paperwork. Maintain professional appearance and demeanor as a representative of the company with healthcare personnel. Lift and handle packages with proper technique; ensure secure fastening during transportation. Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections and report issues immediately. Obey traffic laws and wear seat belts; follow speed limits and safety protocols. Ensure on-time pick-up and delivery of cargo as scheduled, maintaining strong communication with dispatch and operations. Perform other duties as required. Requirements Must possess a valid U.S. Driver’s license with a clean MVR meeting hiring standards. • Clean driving record with no more than 2 moving violations in the past 24 months Seatbelt violation in last 12 months disqualifies Cell phone violation in last 12 months disqualifies No DUI/DWI in the past 5 years Must pass a background check and a DOT drug screening Must have proper auto liability insurance: $100,000 per person / $300,000 per accident; $50,000 property damage Certifications: HIPAA, Bloodborne Pathogens, OSHA, DOT, HazMat (if applicable), FWA (if applicable), TSA (if applicable) Must have a smartphone Vehicle ownership suitable for medical deliveries with no major body damage Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; moderate to heavy physical activity Strong attention to detail and time management Ability to sit for extended periods and follow dispatch instructions Qualifications Must be 21 years or older Valid Georgia driver’s license with clean driving record Willing to drive throughout Georgia; reliable and well-maintained vehicle (temperature-controlled is a plus) Excellent time management, customer service, and communication skills Compliance with HIPAA and handling procedures for medical items Knowledge of Georgia geography for efficient routing Preferred Qualifications Experience as courier, delivery driver, or transportation in medical/pharma/logistics Familiarity with chain of custody procedures DOT Medical Card (if operating larger vehicles) Experience as an independent contractor (1099) Safety-focused mindset; strong customer service and detail orientation Time management and adaptability; ability to meet deadlines Team-oriented and able to communicate with dispatch and team Inclusion and Compliance National Courier Express is an equal opportunity employer.
