Medical Director – Occupational Medicine

Location: Portland, OR area |  Hybrid:  Tue–Thu in-office, Mon/Fri remote
Schedule: 30–40 hours/week | Full-Time, Direct Hire
Salary: $200,000–$300,000 base + additional incentives

About the Role:
Clinical Magnet is seeking an experienced physician to join our partner's organization as Medical Director overseeing our occupational medicine and workers’ compensation team. This is a unique opportunity to lead a high-performing group of physician reviewers, help shape care standards, and make a meaningful impact on employee health—all without the pressures of full-time patient care.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead a team of 7–8 part-time physician reviewers, ensuring quality, consistency, and best practices in workers’ compensation claims
  • Conduct medical and claims reviews (about 25% of your time)
  • Provide oversight, guidance, and mentorship for physician reviewers
  • Help maintain and improve medical policies and claims protocols
  • Collaborate with operations to ensure efficient, high-quality outcomes

Why You’ll Love This Role:

  • Leadership without full-time patient care – 75% management, 25% review
  • Hybrid schedule – work from home Mondays and Fridays
  • No call or weekend requirements
  • Generous compensation – $240–300K base, flexible based on experience
  • Supportive, innovative team in a PE-backed, growing company
  • Opportunity to shape and grow a one-of-a-kind occupational medicine program

Ideal Candidate:

  • MD or DO, Board-Certified
  • Active OR license (or eligible for licensure)
  • Some experience in occupational medicine, workers’ compensation, or independent medical exams
  • Experience in leadership or managing other physicians is preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills

Why Portland?
Enjoy a city known for walkable downtowns, exceptional quality of life, and easy access to nature. Portland is perfect for physicians seeking balance, community, and outdoor adventure.
