Overview Under the supervision of Dr. Fan, the Social Science Research Professional 1 (Lab Manager) will be closely involved in research activities: designing and conducting online behavioral experiments, analyzing data, presenting findings at conferences, and writing manuscripts. The role also includes administrative duties such as onboarding new lab members, managing lab cyberinfrastructure, assisting with grant administration, maintaining the lab website, and organizing lab social events. Core Duties Plan and perform research tasks requiring initiative and judgment, applying basic knowledge of scientific theory as needed. Participate in the development and administration of survey instruments and rating scales, analyze and summarize results, and audit data accuracy. Review and audit case report forms for completion and accuracy, ensuring compliance with research protocols. Identify, select, extract and summarize data, presenting findings to the supervisor. Conduct literature searches, write literature summaries and manuscripts after supervisory guidance. Build and organize data using common statistical programs. Adapt new, nonstandard methods for research projects, including recruitment strategies and data quality procedures, and coordinate IRB renewals when needed. Assist with communication and design of research findings for internal and external audiences, such as web updates or social media. Orient and train new staff or students, as necessary. Other duties may be assigned. Education and Experience Bachelor of Arts degree in an applicable social science field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities General understanding of scientific theory and methods. Computer skills and ability to quickly learn and master new programs. Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance. Excellent organizational and detailed work accuracy. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to work with human study participants. Working Conditions May be exposed to blood-borne pathogens. May be required to work non-standard, extended, or weekend hours to support research.
